This is a listing for a very rare Bob Williams Signed Autographed Notre Dame Fighting Irish Mini Helmet, CHOF.
This helmet is very rare and is in decent condition with no apparent scratches or scrapes. The helmet has a  clear and crisp signature by Bob in black sharpie and he added "Q.B. '48-'49-'50 Notre Dame." This helmet was acquired years ago from a Notre Dame football collector who attended team reunion gatherings in Las Vegas. The paint job on the helmet is a little spotty and was possibly done by the previous owner before the signing. Still, it is adequate and signature is in terrific shape. Bob Williams is a former Notre Dame quarterback who led the Fighting Irish to a national title in 1949. As a nineteen year-old, he quarterbacked Frank Leahy's Fighting Irish to an undefeated 9-0-1 season in 1948 and a No. 2 ranking behind Michigan. The next year, Bob led the Irish to a 36 points a game average and a perfect 10-0 record. Notre Dame won the National Title and teammate Leon Hart won the Heisman Trophy. Bob finished 5th in the Heisman voting that year. He was named All-American in 1949 and again in 1950, when he finished 6th in the Heisman voting. Bob was the No. 2 pick of the 1951 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears and he played there for 3 seasons. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988 and he passed away in 2016 at the age of 86. He is remembered as one of the long line of great Notre Dame quarterbacks and he led the Irish during one of their greatest eras. His helmet is almost impossible to find and it is a must for any true Notre Dame or college football fan.
