Description

YOU ARE BIDDING ON AN ORIGINAL H.C.EVANS POCKET ROULETTE WHEEL.  IT IS FROM THE 1930's / '40's. THIS ITEM IS GAFFED AND IS ABLE TO BE CONTROLLED BY THE OPERATOR! PLEASE SEE THE ADDITIONAL DESCRIPTION ON HOW IT WORKS! VERY RARE !!!!. PLEASE LOOK AT ALL PICTURES CLOSELY!!
What is not readily apparent is that the ball cannot enter the No. 1 or No. 2 holes. Notice that the drillings are different between the No. 1 and No. 10 holes, the 10 being lower than the 1.
This is and odd-even proposition. Of the 18 holes, only 9 can be occupied by the ball. Control is exercised by spinning either clockwise or counter-clockwise. When the knurled knob is loosened, the number plate will shift one space left or right because of inertia. This places red or black, high or low over the live pockets of the wheel.
The Pocket Roulette is shown disassembled below. The numbers disk is shown inverted to show the raised square on the casting. On assembling, the raised square is placed between the two raised squares on the rotor. This is what limits the inertial movement or shift of the numbers to just one space. Notice that the knurled knob has a milled portion that is a bearing surface for the number disk. You can see it is quite a machine.
